At Talk in the Nest, our mission is to empower children and families through individualized, evidence-based speech and language therapy that supports each child's growth and celebrates their successes.

Our Services

We provide compassionate in-home speech therapy and parent support in Minneapolis, Edina, and the Twin Cities metro. We specialize in late talkers, speech sounds, listening and spoken language for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, language processing differences, neurodiversity affirming care, and more.

Evaluations

Evaluations help us learn about your child’s strengths and needs through:

  • Parent questionnaires & developmental history

  • Observations during play

  • Standardized assessments

We may look at your child’s speech, language, social communication and/or auditory development skills. You will receive a report with detailed findings and recommendations that guide length and frequency of therapy.

Therapy

At Talk in the Nest, speech therapy looks like play. We follow your child’s lead, engage in their favorite activities, laugh together, and encourage them to try new and hard things. Each session is individualized and flexible, designed to meet your child’s needs.

Parents are an essential part of our process. We take time to support and guide you because, together, we can help your child reach their goals faster. Our model allows us to offer personalized parent coaching when it’s most effective, rather than relying solely on direct speech therapy.

Speech and Language Therapy

At Talk in the Nest, therapy takes place during your child’s favorite activities. We focus on your child’s unique talents while building new communication skills through play, incorporating toys and routines that they enjoy. Our sessions find natural opportunities for connection and communication, allowing your child to:

  • Learn functional, everyday words and phrases

  • Express themselves more clearly

  • Connect with others

  • Reduce frustration and communicate with confidence

Listening & Spoken Language Therapy

Also known as Auditory-Verbal Therapy, our Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) therapy is available for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. We guide parents to teach their babies, toddlers, and children with hearing loss the skills they need to become successful listening and spoken language communicators.

During therapy sessions, we use interactive and developmentally appropriate strategies such as the “learn to listen” sounds (paired with toys), as well as books and games that help your child:

  • Develop listening skills

  • Speak clearly

  • Communicate with confidence

  • Succeed in school alongside hearing peers

Parents play a central role in the success of LSL therapy. Our specialist will empower you to use strategies that support your child’s language skills throughout your everyday routines. With guidance and support, you'll become confident in helping your child thrive in their communication journey.

In-home LSL therapy is available in Minneapolis and surrounding metro area. Virtual LSL therapy is available throughout the states of Minnesota and Colorado.

Nature-Based Speech Therapy

Many children express themselves more freely in natural settings. If this sounds like your child, we will incorporate nature as a therapeutic partner. We will work toward your child’s speech and language goals outdoors—in a sensory-rich environment that supports self-regulation, attention, social-emotional growth, and cognitive development. Activities may include going on a leaf hunt, balancing on logs, or imaginative play in a stick fort. Nature-based speech therapy will help your child:

  • Learn to understand and use new vocabulary words

  • Develop stronger social communication skills

  • Improve listening skills

  • Develop clearer speech

Parent Coaching

While parent guidance and home activities are always part of our speech therapy sessions, parent coaching is designed just for you—to support you in your role as your child’s first and most important teacher.

Whether your child has a speech delay or is learning to listen with hearing technology, we’ll create a home plan that fits your family’s rhythm.

During parent coaching, we’ll cover topics such as:

  • Understanding your child’s evaluation and co-creating meaningful goals

  • Using practical strategies to support early language development

  • Navigating school-based speech therapy and advocating for an IEP

Parent coaching gives you the tools to support your child’s growth every day. We’ll work together so you feel empowered and ready to help your child thrive.

  • We empower children to find their unique voice through personalized speech therapy. Recognizing that no two children are alike, we tailor each therapy plan to their individual strengths, challenges, and goals—fostering confidence and meaningful progress.

  • Parents know their children best. We offer education, guidance and coaching to empower families to support communication at home. This collaborative approach helps children make faster, lasting progress.

  • We celebrate the diversity of our families and are committed to inclusive, culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming care. Every child deserves quality speech therapy, regardless of background or ability. We also acknowledge the field’s history of bias and strive to uncover and address it in our practice.
